Kommen um 6.00 in Santiago de Chile an. Unser erster Eindruck im Vergleich zu Peru, es ist eine viel modernere und sauberere Stadt. Wir checken in unserem Hostel ein und gehen auf Entdeckungsreise. Besuchen einige Highlights von Santiago, unter anderem das aelteste Weingut Chiles. Hier gab es 3 leckere Weinverkostungen und bei 30 C koennt ihr euch vorstellen wie der Wein wirkt! 

22. - 28.1.2008

After deciding that Patagonia is too for south and the Atacama Desert is too far north for the 10 days we're in Chile, we take the bus to Valparaiso for a couple of days then carry on to La Serena.
Valparaiso is an interesting small town on the coast, with extremely steep cobbled streets. Spend a day at the beach relaxing. 
From La Serena we take a day trip to Isla Damas (Damas islands) where we could see Humbold Penguins, sea lions, and if you're lucky, dolphins - we were not lucky that day. Nevermind, we'll have them in Thailand. Not like us, we do another day trip the following day to Elqui Valley. (We couldn't be bothered organising something ourselves). A beautiful narrow valley with vineyards growing up each side. It looked like an oasis running through a desert.
